We hope to have a reading group, writing competition and some more tournaments this semester as well!

Club Rules

All members of this club must follow the MCC Code of Conduct in and around our office space. A full copy of the Code of Conduct is available in the office. It's mostly common sense though.

Additional Club-Specific rules are as follows:

1) Noise Level. Keep the volume down. The walls are thin, and other clubs will complain. The main sources of noise tend to be multiple conversations in an enclosed space, and the television being cranked up.

2) Fighting. Sure, someone may be annoying you, but please deal with it like an adult. Don't start a fight or an argument with someone. If one starts, an officer will step in and ask you to stop or leave.

3) This is the Sci-Fi Club, not the Drama Club. If you have a problem with someone, please take it up with them, don't drag everyone else into it. If you really do need help, then go to someone for help. Officers will not tolerate mean-spirited gossip or undue tensions brought into the club.

5) Watch your mouth. Yes, we're college students and we're all well accustomed to profanity, but while you may not have a problem with it, others may, so please watch the swearing.

6) Class overrules all. The club office is no place to skip class. If you are scheduled to be in a class, you're not allowed in the room. This rule is unquestionably enforced with being kicked out of the office.

7) Food. As mentioned above, food was a problem last year. Food is allowed in the office if you are on club business. It is not allowed if you are eating in the office for the sake of eating in the office. Also, you must dispose of your garbage in a garbage can in the hall, do not throw food into the club garbage can!!! If this rule is broken, it will be changed to no food at any time in the office.

8) Web Use is Restricted. Flash sites are banned by the school due to bandwith issues. Sites like 4Chan are banned due to content. Violators will be booted off the computer, and possibly out of the office.

9) This club is "SFW." SFW means "Safe For Work." That means no porn. Not on the school computer. Not on your own computer. Please use common sense.

10) Questions? Comments? Concerns? Suggestions? Talk to an officer, leave a message in the suggestion box, speak up at the meeting. Participate! We need more active members!

Breaking of any of the above rules will result with being asked to leave the office.

To be considered an active member of the MCC Sci-Fi/Fantasy Club, you must attend one of our weekly meetings (Fridays at Noon,) once every four weeks. If you have a conflict (class, work, another meeting,) we'll take that into consideration, but it's one hour once every four weeks.
