What is a Resident Assistant?

A Resident Assistant (RA) is a designated student on your floor who is there to assist you with different aspects of your life while you are living with us in Pioneer Hall.  An RA makes themselves available to answer questions, assist with problems, help you get to know other students, provide fun/educational programs for you to attend, and yes, maintain order in the building.  They have a lot of responsibilities, in addition to their classes, but they are placed here as a resource for you, and to ensure that you are safe and happy.  Should you need help or have questions or suggestions throughout the year, visit your RA. 

What is a Resident Director?

A Resident Director (RD), is a full-time professional staff member who also lives right in the building with you.  An RD supervises the RAs, ensures the safety, welfare, and maintenance of the building,  and provides another level of care and assistance to you.  RDs also provide educational programming in the building.  While an RD has an office and a desk, please do not let that deter you from getting to know him/her, or asking him/her for assistance.  They are happy to help!
