March 9, 2012

Dear Residence Hall Student,

The Monroe Community College Association, Inc. (MCCA), the corporation that owns and operates housing at MCC, recognizes and understands your concern regarding access to the internet in the residence halls.  Internet access any time of the day or evening is important to you and your academic success at MCC.  Because of the challenges you are experiencing, I want to inform you that the MCCA is contracting with an outside service provider to supply internet service to the residence halls.  The new system will be installed during the summer and will be available for student usage for the fall 2012 semester.

The vendor will provide wireless and wired data service and ongoing system monitoring.  In addition, there will be 24-hour technical support through a toll-free help line.  The network equipment to support the wired and wireless service will be provided; therefore, you will not need to bring your own routers.  Service coverage will include all indoor living areas and indoor common areas.  In addition, you will not be competing with classrooms for bandwidth, so for those interested in file sharing, online gaming, and communications similar to Skype, the experience will be much improved.

I wish you much success.

Sincerely,

Susan M. Salvador, Ed.D.

Vice President, Student Services

Monroe Community College
