Susan Carlson
Hi! My name is Sue Carlson. I am a full-time Assistant Professor in the MCC nursing program. I teach Fundamentals of Nursing (NUR 111). I have previously taught at both the University of Rochester and Finger Lakes Community College. I have always enjoyed teaching. Meeting new people and watching their interest spark and passion build for the profession is a wonderful experience. I love being a nurse. Although I can’t say it’s always fun, I can say that it is a rewarding and very fulfilling experience to be able to impact a positive change in peoples’ lives. I am able to engage in unique opportunities of helping people each week in my per diem job as a Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry at viaHealth’s out-patient psychopharmacology clinic. I truly enjoy this work!
In addition to my career, my family keeps me busy as well. I have three sons who keep me active and on my toes. The boys are all involved in football, wrestling, and lacrosse so I have become quite knowledgeable about these sporting events! In the spare time that I am able to carve out of my schedule I enjoy reading, writing, swimming, and playing with our two chocolate labs.
I hope that you have a wonderful experience here at MCC and enjoy nursing as much as I do.
