Welcome to NUR 212

Welcome to NUR 212. Maternity Nursing focuses on the needs of mothers, neonates, and families, using the Nursing Process to promote wellness, prevent illness, and manage responses to actual or potential threats to health. Topics studied include common maternal and neonatal considerations and normal perinatal outcomes.

The Core Competencies of Associate Degree Nursing are explored and applied. These include Professional Behaviors, Communication, Assessment, Clinical Decision-Making, Therapeutic Nursing Interventions, Teaching and Learning, Collaboration, and Managing Care.

Your NUR 212 faculty look forward to meeting you and introducing you to nursing care of mothers and neonates. We invite your full engagement in learning activities and are pleased at the opportunity to guide your learning.

We hope you enjoy your summer break and return to MCC energized and prepared for your studies. For those of you who are planning ahead, these are your required textbooks and learning resources:
