                Welcome to the Learning Communities'

                              web page!

A learning community is an exciting new way to take courses at DCC.

A learning community is a group of students who take two or more courses together. The  courses are coordinated by two or more faculty who work closely together. Typically each learning community has a theme. Most writing assignments and projects are  coordinated and are used in the Learning Community courses.

The Learning Communities for Fall   2013 at the Damon City Campus are:

CRJ 101 (Introduction to Criminal Justice ),CRJ 103 ( Constitutional Law & Rights of People) , TRS 105 ( Fundamentals of Writing ), and COS 101 (College Orientation Seminar ).  Theme: Just Write - Effective Writing for Careers in Law & Criminal Justice

CRJ 204 (Juvenile Justice) and ENG 200 (Advanced Composition). Theme: Language & The Law

CRJ 211 CL1 (Community Values) and SOC 203 CL1 (Criminology). Theme: Violence Prevention Through Community and Cultural Change. This learning community uses Jackson Katz's curriculum "Mentors In Violence Prevention".
