We meet every Friday from 12-12:50 in room 7-109, please stop by to see what needs Mini Baja club has that you may want to help us with. We are open to all students, declared majors or not.
Clubs are the best place to discover what you want and like to do. Because we are a volunteer club, when you see a need, you can put your heart and soul into a project and do it. Unlike an employer who assigns tasks you hate, and you must do. Volunteering is the best place to prove you are a self starter, motivated, experienced, and accomplished on your own or as part of a team.
What motivates many of us is the thrill of driving an off-road jumping race car. A ten HP Briggs and Stratton engine is plenty to deliver 40 plus miles an hour. Some of us like to race other cars, motorcycles, snow sleds. Some of us like to build tubular frames, machine parts, or contribute to the teams goals in getting sponsorships, publications, community services, fund raising, etc.
The highlight of being in our club is the thrill of being a family traveling to Montreal, and competing with 120 other top universities in multiple events. The endurance 4 hour race is the climax of testing. Our goal is to finish the endurance event. This event stresses everything to the limits: our teamwork, our prototype car, our mechanics coordinated relationships, and communication skills. Our personal metal is proven in our mechanical creation, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic know how and execution.
A Mini Baja race car is a deliberate grouping of raw materials governed by the Society of Automotive Engineers SAE. We at MCC club Mini Baja focus our collective efforts cut steel, weld, assemble, and finish a fully functional presentation of a working prototype vehicle. Our capabilities as a functioning unit are tested against many of the finest engineering university on the planet. We take great pride in this effort. I hope you see our vision and join our cause.
We strive to build a sense of teamwork; leading by example, following SAE rules book, listening to advisors, and knowing when to literally get involved or not get run over. Our meeting room in 7-109 is hot with activity on Fridays Noon to 12:50 PM. We hope to be with you there in the winners circle.
Unanimously elected in fall of 2007 is Captain Bob Ronnenberg who has a BS in mechanical engineering technology from RIT. At RIT Bob helped design and build four Mini Baja race cars. Bob is currently an HVAC student. He recently won the MCC Engineering leaderships club bridge competition.
Our Main Club Advisor is David Leach who has been with the club since its inceptions. Dave Leach has an eye for what works in this highly competitive field. When Dave speaks we listen intently.
Build times at the Applied Technology Center room 23-131 are posted in Meeting minutes Navigate to Meeting Minutes of this web page for posted club build times at the Applied Technology Center room 23-131.
