Description

Candidates have gone above and beyond job responsibilities in their early years of service to their department, division, and college (teaching / professional), and as a result have made MCC a better place to learn and work.

Candidates who have demonstrated superb leadership and innovation in higher education in such a way as to affect permanently the college’s operation in a substantive, measurable manner. Candidates who have consistently demonstrated excellence in teaching, and have performed superbly, exceeding their job description.

Final selection is determined by SUNY.

Criteria

Outstanding accomplishments in:
  • primary job responsibilities;
  • contributions to various levels/areas of the college;
  • enhancing the overall learning and working environment at MCC.
Outstanding accomplishments in leadership through:
  • innovation;
  • professionalism;
  • service to students;
  • service to the college;
  • and service to the larger Rochester community.
Outstanding accomplishments in:

pedagogy, scholarship, student success, innovation, and initiative.

Outstanding accomplishments in:
  • achievements exceeding the job description;
  • adaptability to institutional needs;
  • professional recognition, achievements, and service;
  • innovation and initiative;
  • and professional leadership.

Eligibility Those eligible must be full-time teaching faculty and full-time professional staff who are junior in their field. The award is for individuals with 3-6 years of service at MCC who have no previous years of service elsewhere in the same or related capacity. Those eligible must be full-time staff, administration, or tenured faculty. Either individuals or groups may be nominated, but each individual, or individual group member, must have 7 or more years of service at MCC. Those eligible must be full-time tenured MCC faculty with academic rank. Classroom instruction must be at least ½ of their normal annual workload for the current academic year. The award is for individuals with 8 or more years of service at MCC. Those eligible must be administrators, counselors, librarians, professional staff, MCC tenured faculty members for whom classroom instruction is less than ½ their normal annual workload. The award is for individuals with 8 or more years of service at MCC. Each Chancellor’s award requires that applicants must be full-time employees. This award is intended for exceptional achievement reflected by consistent effort and continued contribution. Due to the prestige of this award it is recommended that candidates have 10 or more years of service at MCC.

Not Eligible

Full time teaching faculty and professional staff with 7 or more years of service at MCC (as a full time employee of the college) or service in the same field in other institutions are not eligible. Candidates with 7 or more years of combined service at MCC and other institutions are not eligible. Previous recipients of either NISOD or MEEA, VPs, and the president of the college are also not eligible.
