Have an Idea for a Presentation?
Beyond the Formula's primary mission is to
provide a forum for teachers of introductory statistics to come
together and discuss concerns about this very important course. Our
attendees are high school, two-year and four-year college mathematics
teachers. Our conferences have four basic topic components:
Applications, Curriculum, Teaching Techniques, and Technology Issues.
We have followed this format for each of the previous conferences, and
rotate the primary emphasis each year.
- Are you a statistics
teacher who is doing interesting and innovative things in your
statistics classroom, and has much to offer other statistics
instructors?
- Do you know a statistics teacher who is doing interesting and innovative things?
- Have you ever thought about making a presentation to share your innovations?
The Conference Steering Committee is interested in hearing from you about:
- presentation(s) you would like to make
- topics you would like to see on our program
- people you would be interested in hearing speak
- people who you would recommend as speakers
- any other way that we could help you in your teaching of statistics
See Conferences Past for
a summary of our past conferences, it will answer some of the questions
you have about what has transpired over the years.
The dates for the next conference is August 3-4, 2006. The conference typically follows a schedule (See Conference Schedule, 2005
currently posted) where speakers arrive on Wednesday, in time for a
pre-conference dinner; conference all day Thursday and Friday, with
Friday's agenda ending before 4:00 p.m. We pay speakers an honorarium
plus expenses. Our speakers typically make two or more presentations.
The planning for the next
conference starts at the conclusion of each conference. We welcome your
suggestions and comments. We look forward to hearing from you. Write us
today!
