CAUSEweb CAUSEweb, http://www.CAUSEweb.org, is a new NSF supported digital library for statistics instructors operated by the Consortium for the Advancement of Undergraduate Statistics Education (CAUSE). CAUSE is a national organization whose mission is to support and advance undergraduate statistics education in four target areas: resources, professional development, outreach, and research. CAUSEweb was launched in August, 2004 and already features a searchable annotated listing of more than 1500 reference articles in statistics education, more than 300 high quality resources for teaching statistics, more than 30 cartoons for free use by statistics instructors, and a growing collection of refereed items providing the core of the library's holdings. The CAUSEweb editorial board also serves as the statistics community for the Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching. MERLOT: http://www.merlot.org
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~GAISE To advance statistics education, the American Statistical Association (ASA) has funded a project to develop Guidelines for Assessment and Instruction in Statistics Education (GAISE). The project is made up of two groups of eminent statistics educators, with one group focusing on PreK-12 education, and with the other group focusing on the introductory college course.
Both groups have written draft guidelines that, when complete, will help substantially to improve statistics education. These guidelines have been placed on the web to enable interested readers to see them and to perhaps make suggestions for improvements. You are encouraged to read them. They are at http://it.stlawu.edu/~rlock/gaise
