PAPER– Marine Sanctuaries Due Date: Friday, December 7th Description: Choose a marine sanctuary from the list below (for descriptions of each as well as links to additional websites for each sanctuary go to the following website http://www.sanctuaries.nos.noaa.gov/oms/oms.html ). Write a 3-4 page paper that answers, at minimum, the following questions: Where is it? Why is it a marine sanctuary? What types of resources are there? What is being "protected" or preserved? What is its geologic/physical setting (rocks, minerals, geologic features/structures etc.)? What about the biology? How is the sanctuary regulated? What types of activities are allowed in the sanctuary? Is there any current research being conducted in this sanctuary? If so, describe what types of research. Within the body of the paper, all sources of information "not from your own mind" must be sited with the authors name and the year of publication OR the web address. A work cited page must be included. You must use at least three (3) different sources. *If any of the above format requirements are not correct, your grade will be decreased by 10 points.
