Poster Project Description

Geography of Tourism Destinations

Spring Break Poster Assignment

Description: This project challenges your team to design and create a promotional poster that will convince MCC students to spend Spring Break at your chosen destination.

Destination: The destination of your Spring Break poster is open. Therefore, it can be a traditional or non-traditional Spring Break destination. You and your peers must come to an agreement as to which destination to promote. However, each team must choose a different destination.

Requirements: Your team should approach the poster as a destination marketing tools that will convince other MCC students that this is the place to go for Spring Break.

Focus on the customer as you sell the destination.

What do your fellow students want to do while on Spring Break?

Why is your destination the place to do it?

Points: The team poster is worth 50 points; 25 points will be deducted each scheduled class day the poster is late. Every member of the team will get the same grade unless a majority of the group informs me that an individual has not earned full credit. Everyone must add something to the project. The delegation of work based on talents and interests is helpful.

Extra Credit: All posters will be displayed in the third floor hallway of building 11. A select group of faculty and staff will subjectively judge which poster is the best designed. The team members that create the top three ranked posters judged by majority vote will each receive ten, five, and three points extra credit respectively.

Due Dates:

Destination: ASAP (Note: each team must choose a different destination in teams of three or less)

Poster: Friday, March 7, 2008

Poster Format

Style: Use whatever materials and tools available to you to create a high quality, eye-catching, and convincing poster. Your grade will be primarily based on effort. However, the appropriateness of the destination, creativity, clarity, efficient use of space, and persuasiveness will be measured as well.
