The Monroe Community College (MCC) Chapter of AAWCC, established in 1993 is currently 117 members strong.  Through strategic programming initiatives the chapter provides educational, professional, and leadership opportunities to support the mission to “change women’s lives through leadership and education, thus strengthening our college and community.”  

Highlighted initiatives for the 2011-2012 academic year included a combined celebration of Women’s History Month and the 50^th Anniversary of MCC through a Poster Presentation titled” Her Story of Women at MCC”.  This presentation opened on International Women’s Day with a networking reception co—sponsored by the Rochester Women’s Network, and closed with a film screening and discussion of “Miss Representation”.  This is just one of the many networking and professional development programs conceptualized and executed by our membership.

The MCC chapter has a strong history of service, providing ongoing opportunities for members to support the Rochester community. Projects are  focused on meeting community needs, and fostering civic responsibility in a meaningful environment. The Service Committee annually engages in activities  that have benefited organizations such as the Rochester Breast Cancer Coalition, The Catholic Family Center, The Rochester City School District, YWCA, Food Link, Rochester Habitat for Humanity Veterans Build  and the Ms. Foundation for Women.
