Presidential Cabinet

The Brighton Campus Student Government President, along with the Vice President, appoint a Presidential Cabinet to assist them in carrying out the Government's purpose, both in matters of budget and policy.  The Cabinet consists of at least twelve (12) members, with the option for Assistant or shared (Co-Coordinator) roles for any position at the President's discretion.  All Cabinet members must be confirmed by a majority vote of the Student Senate.

The Cabinet members are referred to as Coordinator and they work closely with the Student Government President and Vice President to implement objectives, initatives, and programs on campus that target the needs and wants of students.  Coordinators may also be called on to work with Student Senators to further implement polcy.

Coordinators must be available for a weekly Cabinet meeting chaired by the President, or the Vice President in the President's absence.  They may be required to submit proposals, plans, or reports to the President on an as needed basis.  They may also be required to spend time talking with students about school issues and must hold a minimum of one office hour weekly to handle student concerns.

A weekly committment of five (5) to ten (10) hours is required for all positions.

The requirements for holding a Presidential Cabinet position are:

1. Must maintain a 2.25 cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) throughout the course of their term.

2. Must take six (6) credits at the Brighton Campus throughout the course of their term.

3. Enroll in the LDS-181 leadership development course.

4. Hold a minimum of one office hour weekly to handle student, faculty, staff, or administration concerns.

5. Must serve as an advocate for students and their issues with faculty, staff, and administration.

6. Must serve the full length of their term.

7. Must attend all Cabinet meetings unless excused to prior by the Student Government President.

8. Must attend any Student Senate meeting where matters pertain to their position.

 

The Presidential Cabinet Coordinators are:

Adult & Evening Students Coordinator

The Adult/Evening Coordinator serves the nontraditional students on campus by soliciting their input on college programs and course options available to them.  This Coordinator must also promote the Student Government to these students and, when necessary, relay their concerns to the Student Government President and Student Senate.

Campus Activities Board (CAB) Coordinator

The CAB Coordinator acts as the director of the Campus Activities Board, chairs their meetings, and plans and implements programs and activities on campus to serve the needs and wants of the students.  This Coordinator shall also make recommendations and reports to the Student Government President and Student Senate.

Campus Environment Coordinator

The Campus Environment Coordinator shall work with Campus Facilities to create and promote environmentally friendly programs and initiatives at the college.  This Coordinator shall also work closely with the Student Senate to implement these programs and bring to the attention of the Student Senate any concerns regarding them. 

Diversity Coordinator

The Diversity Coordinator ensures that college programming, events, and services meet the needs of the diverse college community.  This Coordinator shall also aid clubs and organizations in promoting cultural awareness at the college and provide the Student Government President and Student Senate with reports regarding the implementation of such awareness programs.

Elections Coordinator

The Elections Coordinator serves as director of Student Government elections and oversees all matters pertaining to them.  This Coordinator shall also be the primary recruiter for open Student Government positions throughout the year.

Finance Coordinator

The Finance Coordinator serves as the budget director for the Student Government.  This Coordinator monitors Student Government expenses and make recommendations and reports to the Student Government President and Student Senate regarding budgetary items.  They shall also assist in creating the annual Student Association budget and the Student Government budget.

Intercampus Liaison

The Intercampus Liaison works closely with the Damon City Campus and other satellite campuses to ensure that all campuses work together to fulfill student needs.  This Coordinator also reports to the Student Government President and Student Senate on areas of possible collaboration between campuses.

Physical Activities Coordinator

The Physical Activities Coordinator works with the athletic department to publicize athletic events.  This Coordinator shall also attend MCC sporting events and submit articles to the campus media organizations regarding athletics and other health activities on campus.

Promotions Coordinator

The Promotions Coordinator serves as the liaison between the Student Government and the media organizations on campus.  This Coordinator shall also publicize events to the student body through all mediums and publicize events to the public when necessary.

Promotions Coordinator of Web Design

The Promotions Coordinator of Web Design serves as the webmaster for the Student Government website.  This Coordinator works closely with the Promotions Coordinator to promote Student Government events, programs, and initiatives via internet.

Roundtable Coordinator

The Roundtable Coordinator shall preside over all monthly Roundtable meetings and set the agenda for those meetings.  This Coordinator also serves as the liaison between the Student Government and the other clubs and organizations.

Student Services Coordinator

The Student Services Coordinator monitors student needs and wants and ensure they are being met.  This Coordinator shall also assist in creating initiatives that further assist students along with the Student Government President and Student Senate.
