Week 11 Announcements:
Week 11 Conference Corrections:
1. Postconference math question for Synthroid...question answer in mg. not grams.
2. Practice exam #5...Please note that the rationales are off by one as of Question #11 (a math question). The rationale for #11 is actually listed for #16. Please renumber accordingly to match question with rationale.
3. The rationale on Practice Exam Five, Question # 4 could be explained better. There are two types of anemia due to cobalamin deficiency. Pernicious anemia is a type of cobalamin deficiency due to lack of intrinsic factor. Pernicious anemia is not caused by a nutritional deficiency, but rather the body’s inability to absorb dietary cobalamin. On the other hand, a cobalamin deficiency anemia could be caused by a poor diet with a lack of nutritional cobalamin, and would be treated with oral replacement. Pernicious anemia would be treated with IM or intranasal Vit. B12 since the body cannot absorb cobalamin even if it is provided in adequate amounts in the diet. (Per Lewis).
