Banner Student System Training
Welcome to the new MCC Banner Student System!
We are offering sessions in a variety of training modes:
Below are descriptions of the recommended training sessions to prepare you to use Banner Self Service. You can choose the 1 hour individual sessions, learn it all in a 3 hour Super Session or learn at your own pace with our innovative web based training.
Banner 101: Overview of Banner Self Service for Student Audience: All MCC Faculty and Advisors Prerequisite: None Track Description: A recommended lecture style first course on Banner that introduces faculty to Banner terminology including terms, programs, majors, new curriculum codes, etc.
After this session you will be able to:
- Understand the new academic terms
- Develop knowledge of new curriculum codes, program majors in Banner
- Learn to understand and navigate Banner’s “new language”

Banner 102: Self Service for Student: Registration Audience: All MCC Faculty and Advisors Recommended Prerequisite: Banner 101 Track Description: Hands-on training designed to teach faculty and advisors how to register students for classes in the Banner Self Service Student module.
After this session you will be able to:
- Register a student for classes
- Drop/Add a student from a class
- Search for open classes in the class schedule
- Perform registration overrides
- Use the waitlist functions

Banner 103: Self Service for Student: Class Management Audience: All MCC Faculty Recommended Prerequisite: Banner 101 Track Description: Hands-on training to teach faculty how to manage class lists, grades, etc., in the Banner Self Service Student module.
After this session you will be able to:
- See who is on your class list
- Learn how to e-mail student directly from your class list
- Submit attendance and early alert warnings for your students (no more bubble sheets!)
- Submit grades
- See and update your faculty assignment information
- List your office hours and syllabi for your classes

Banner 104: Self Service for Student: Student Information Audience: All MCC Faculty and Advisors Recommended Prerequisite: Banner 101 Track Description: Hands-on training to teach faculty how to access and understand a student’s admissions information, placement testing data and transcript information in the Banner Self Service Student module.
After this session you will be able to:
- Read a student’s placement test score
- Understand placement test revisions
- Access admissions information for students
- Read a student’s academic transcript

Banner 105: Self Service for Student: CAPP-The New On-Course Audience: All MCC Faculty and Advisors Recommended Prerequisite: Banner 101 Track Description: CAPP (Curriculum Advising and Program Planning) is Banner’s computerized degree audit/degree evaluation system. Learn how to view, interpret and manipulate Banner CAPP to aid students in the advisement process.
After this session you will be able to:
- Access the degree audit system in Banner (CAPP)
- Advise students using CAPP

Banner 106: Self Service for Student: What do MCC Students see on the Web?
Audience: All MCC Faculty and Advisors Recommended Prerequisite: Banner 101
Track Description: See what MCC’s students will be able to access and accomplish on the Web using the Banner Self Service Student module.
After this session you will be able to:
- See what students will be able to view and accomplish on Banner Self Service via the Web: course registration, student transcripts, “what/if” program scenarios, etc.
