Employee Parking

Faculty/Staff parking permits must be obtained from the Public Safety Office in building 7, room 314. This requires your vehicle registration and Parking Permit Application. Your SUNY ID card will allow you access to the gated employee parking lots A and K.

Any questions or concerns should be directed to the Public Safety Office at extension 2900 or 7275.

E-Mail Accounts

Network access and e-mail accounts are requested by your department chair or secretary. Training is not required, but is available for those who request it (www.monroecc.edu/go/training). An information packet will be sent to those who request an account that includes information about passwords and getting started.

Membership in the Faculty Association

The Faculty Association is a membership organization. To participate in the important decisions of the organization, such as contract ratification balloting and the election of union officers, you must complete a Membership Enrollment Form. Membership forms are available by contacting the FA Office at extensions 2516 or 2528. The Membership Enrollment Form also establishes your membership in the New York State United Teachers and the American Federation of Teachers.

Please note: Under the provisions of our contract, all faculty represented by the Faculty Association are required to pay a fee for the cost of union representation. This fee is referred to as "agency fee." The cost of "agency fee" and membership dues are the same. We encourage you to join the FA and to let your voice be heard.

Adjunct Promotion

Adjunct faculty are eligible for promotion after four (4) years in rank having taught a minimum of eight (8) semesters, including summer sessions. To be considered for promotion, you must have the following:

  1. An official transcript on file;
  2. A current faculty activity report on file covering the time period since the last promotion;
  3. Have had a classroom visitation within the last 12 months, with a report on file; and
  4. A letter of support from the department chairperson and the rank and tenure committee or adjunct supervisor.

The process is as follows:

  • The Academic Vice President reminds Deans in the fall to evaluate adjunct faculty that might seek promotion in the spring.
  • The Academic Vice President follows up with a letter in mid-March informing chairs of the promotion procedure.
  • You should submit promotion materials to your department's Tenure and Promotion Committee (check with your Chair or Adjunct Coordinator for the specific due date).
  • The Tenure and Promotion Committee then forwards its recommendation to the division dean.
  • The Board of Trustees approves the adjunct promotions at their August meeting. The promotion would then be effective on September 1.

FAN (Newsletter)

If you have a mail folder in the Mailroom at Brighton, each issue of FAN will be distributed into your mailfolder. At the Damon campus, FAN's are available in bulk in the DCC Mailroom. Please take a copy when you are in the mailroom. You can also access our most recent issues of FAN on this website, see FAN.

What if you don't find a mail folder for yourself? Contact your department and arrange to have a mail folder placed in the Mail Room.

Listing in College Publications

All adjunct faculty shall have an opportunity to be included in the College Directory. Please contact your department secretary or the Telecommunications Office.

After four (4) cumulative semesters of employment, adjunct faculty may also be listed in the College catalog if they request such a listing.

Position Announcements

When a full-time vacancy occurs, adjunct faculty shall be notified by announcements posted outside of Human Resources. Announcements are also available on the MCC website: See "employees", "employee resources", "position announcements". Adjuncts who possess the minimum qualifications and have taught 10 or more semesters in a department will receive an interview for a vacancy which occurs in that department.
